Groovin’ Gourmets is a full-service caterer based in Richmond, Virginia. We are dedicated to providing impeccable service and professional styling for every event. Our focus on food, service, and style makes us standout from our colleagues, and our commitment to supporting our employees and our community, as well as our clients, is part of what makes us special. Our team members have backgrounds in everything from fundraising and non-profits to floral design and communications, and we know that they are the key to community buy-in, word-of-mouth marketing, and unmatched customer service. We’re proud to be a Richmond institution working with great staff to serve exceptional clients in a close-knit community.
Since merging with Trolley House Refreshments in 2016, we’ve been pleased to bring on managing partners Michael Calkins and Scott Halloran to work with Groovin’ Gourmets founder Brandon Bruce to make our services better than ever. Like Brandon, Scott and Michael are committed to growing the business while giving back to the Richmond community, and they’re never afraid to roll up their sleeves and get into the catering trenches with our event staff to pull off amazing celebrations, receptions, and events. What’s your favorite thing about your job?
Interacting with the clients and the guests, and seeing all the planning for an event come together to make a successful event. Also love working with the staff to create a fun, yet professional work environment.
Why do you think great customer service is important?
The events that we plan and execute are very important to our clients – for some it is a once in a life-time experience and they are putting a lot of money into it. It is important that we do the very best we can to make their vision a reality. (This also applies to the repeat clients, of course!) A happy client is our best form of advertising, and the best way for Groovin’ Gourmets to get their name around town.
What’s your favorite Groovin’ Gourmets dish?
Too hard to pick one favorite!! Chicken Salad, Sweet Potato Ham Biscuits with Apple Butter, Apple Ginger Chutney Chicken, Greek Feta Chicken, Beef Brisket, Spinach and Artichoke Dip …
Michael Calkins - Managing Director
I have been in the food and refreshment service industry since 2006 Our vending company’s motto has always been “conveniently delivering fuel for mind, body and soul!” I look forward to doing the same for all of Groovin’ Gourmets clients!
How long have you worked at Groovin’ Gourmets?
Scott Halloran and I purchased the Groovin’ Gourmets in May 2016 after starting and managing Feast Catering and Events for 2 years. With the successful merger of Feast and Groovin’ Gourmets, we look forward to providing a great product and service to all our customers!
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I enjoy delivering smiles to our customers. We provide incredible food and exceptional service which is always sure to bring a smile!
Why do you think great customer service is important?
Great customer service is the key to any successful business. If we deliver great service then we will always have repeat business, great referrals and exceptional employee retention.

Scott Halloran - Managing Partner
I found my niche in the hospitality industry working in restaurants during college. It was rewarding to see satisfied customers enjoy the dining experience. Michael Calkins and I purchased Groovin’ Gourmets in May of 2016.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
Thinking big picture to create the vision for the company.

Customer service is the foundation of ongoing relationships.
